Description

This session presents a real-world case study from a leading global technology company that developed and is implementing a multi-year operational water-reduction roadmap spanning multiple regions, climates, and building types. The presentation focuses on how leadership vision, analytics, and sustainability governance were aligned to move from high-level commitments to regionally grounded, implementable action. The session explores three interconnected dimensions of portfolio-scale water stewardship. First, it addresses strategic direction and leadership, including how long-term water targets were translated into global and regional roadmaps, priorities, and investment pathways. Second, it discusses the role of analytics and planning methodologies, showing how teams worked with limited and inconsistent data to understand water use, estimate reduction potential, and inform capital planning decisions. Third, it examines sustainability standards, regional engagement, and governance, including how water strategies were embedded into standards and operations, supported by regional audits, and tracked over time. Rather than focusing solely on aspirational targets, this session emphasizes implementation realism—how to sequence actions, allocate capital, coordinate regional teams, and track progress over multiple years. Attendees will leave with transferable approaches for guiding complex portfolios through water-reduction planning and execution while strengthening resilience in water-stressed regions.
