Name
Carbon Convergence – A New Frontier of Targets: LEED V5, 2030 Commitment, California State Code
Date & Time
Thursday, May 28, 2026, 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM
Description
With the year 2030 on the horizon, firms and signatories to the AIA 2030 Commitment may be questioning the impact the commitment has made on the industry, and what comes next (if any). The panelists will unpack the current status of the program, the impact program has made since inception – across the industry and within their firms – and share successes and challenges from their diverse perspectives. Looking to the future, they will discuss and identify the future relevance of the 2030 program with other emerging and evolving efforts to propel the industry to low-carbon design, such as LEED Version 5, the California Code cycle, MEP2040, and SE2050. Since its inception in 2005, the built and AEC industry has transformed immensely, however the climate crisis has remained constant, albeit more pronounced. While we recognize we only represent a small subset of voices, as peers, we are coming together to share our qualms and our different perspectives in tackling these challenges.
