Nature Related Strategies: Alignment with green building certifications and an office portfolio case study
Date & Time
Thursday, May 28, 2026, 12:35 PM - 1:05 PM
Description
This session explores how CommonWealth Partners evolved an initial beehive program into a more comprehensive evolving strategy, centering education and engagement. Campaigns such as Pollinator Week and Compost Week, supported by property-wide communications and memos, encouraged tenants to actively participate in biodiversity related practices. Biodiversity sections in annual reports and bi-annual newsletters shared progress and outcomes, while standardized native plant signage connected occupants to the ecological value of their environment. Together, these efforts exemplify equity and reciprocity, ensuring that tenants, communities, and ecosystems all benefit from the interventions. The case study highlights how the project’s strategies align with certification frameworks which are increasingly including biodiversity related elements. By translating small-scale engagement into measurable ecological and social outcomes, CommonWealth Partners provides a practical model for organizations seeking to integrate nature-based solutions across office portfolios. Attendees will gain actionable insights into building scalable biodiversity programs that connect people and place.
