Green Jeopardy: An interactive deep dive into the 1st all-electric hospital
Date & Time
Thursday, May 28, 2026, 1:15 PM - 1:45 PM
Description
Sustainability is often discussed through frameworks, metrics, and technical guidance—but how do we make these concepts engaging, memorable, and actionable across disciplines? Green Jeopardy reimagines sustainability education through a high-energy, interactive game-show format that brings learning to life while reinforcing core principles of high-performance design. The University of California at Irvine’s new Health Center is the first all-electric medical health center in the country. This session uses a Jeopardy-style format to share design aspects of the 1st all-electric medical health center in the country within the five critical areas namely: operational carbon, embodied carbon, ecosystems, health and well-being, and resilience. Participants can answer scenario-based questions grounded in a real-world project, California specific codes, and emerging best practices. Each category highlights how design decisions from all-electric systems and low-carbon materials to biophilic strategies and climate-resilient infrastructure translate into measurable environmental and human benefits. Designed for architects, engineers, sustainability professionals, and project managers, this interactive experience provides healthcare specific insights and challenges and demonstrates how climate action plan goals can be integrated seamlessly into project delivery rather than treated as an add-on.
