Heather Larson works with the StopWaste Construction Innovation team to advance building decarbonization with a focus on low-embodied carbon material choices, promoting building material re-use and building capacity for development of infill housing production. Example projects in her current portfolio include: sponsoring the Build It Green Small Development Incubator (SDI), collaborating with Builders for Climate Action to develop a Material Selection Guide, coordinating with the UC Berkeley Center for Built Environment to conduct LCA analysis of multifamily energy retrofits, convening a Construction Materials Working Group of local jurisdictions in the Bay Area, managing the Agency’s Solar Panel Reuse and Recycling project and developing pilot programs for re-use and remanufacture of reclaimed construction lumber. Heather has lead the Agency’s Green Building Grants to Non-profit Housing program, lead the East Bay Energy Watch Local Government Partnership with PG&E, and lead the development of the Bay Area Regional Energy Network (BayREN) Multifamily incentive program when it launched in 2013. She holds a Bachelors degree in Architecture from UC Berkeley and a Masters degree in Sustainable Design from the University of Sydney, in Sydney Australia.
