Alexandra (Alex) Setmajer leads Equinix's global programs for water and nature, focused within global design & construction. Equinix is dedicated to being a responsible user of water and to supporting nature and biodiversity on our sites, and Alex's programs develop and implement the strategies to deliver on these commitments as Equinix continues to grow.

Alex has more than 10 years of experience working to support environmental strategies in the build environment, including experience implementing sustainability certifications like LEED, Envision and LBC. Formerly as a consultant at HDR and Brightworks Sustainability, Alex supported sustainability initiatives on major infrastructure projects, urban planning projects and all types of commercial and mixed use buildings. She co-chaired the ILFI Portland Collaborative's Research & Advocacy Committee to develop a policy proposal "Sustainable Buildings for All", a framework now sponsored by the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality for any community to adapt.

Alex has a Master of Environmental Science & Management (MESM) from the Bren School of Environmental Science & Management at the University of California, Santa Barbara and a Bachelor of Architectural Design from Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. Now based in the mountains by Seattle, Alex spends her free time volunteering as a Master Gardener and getting outside with her fluffy dog and wonderful partner as much as possible.
