Joanna Karaman is a senior landscape architect who joined OLIN in the Los Angeles office in 2015. She has primarily worked on projects in California, including the LA River Master Plan Update and the Sportsmen’s Lodge in Studio City. Through these projects and other experiences, Joanna has developed a familiarity and passion for the plant communities in Southern California. She has also researched and worked on topics of resilience, flooding, and climate change through experiences such as the LA River Master Plan Update and the Rebuild by Design competition. In her academic career, she has received multiple recognitions and awards including being named the 2015 Olmsted Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania. In 2016, Joanna was invited to speak at the Landscape Architecture Foundation Summit as an “Emerging Voice,” joining over seventy established and emerging leaders in the field to engage in lively debate about realizing landscape architecture’s potential.
