Frances Yang is Associate Director of Low Carbon Design, with the role of supporting research, strategy, and coordinated action for CLF to reduce embodied carbon emissions globally. Prior to joining CLF, Frances spent 22 years at Arup. There, she led their Sustainable Materials Practice, driving down embodied carbon through buildings and infrastructure projects, policy development, and technical due diligence of low carbon materials. Frances has served as vice-chair of the Structural Engineers 2050 Commitment, co-founded the All for Reuse initiative, and vice-chaired the USGBC Materials and Resources Technical Advisory Group. While at Arup, she led technical support of low carbon concrete codes, policies, and pilots for Marin County, Alameda County, San Francisco Department of Public Works, UCSF, SFO, and multiple large private portfolios.
