The first presentation, from Caltrans, will discuss how life-cycle cost analysis and environmental-impact considerations can support material selection and infrastructure decision-making. The second presentation will review the evaluation and implementation of alternative supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) in California, including their performance, availability, and practical challenges. The final presentation, from National Cement, will provide an industry perspective on alternative cements and SCMs, highlighting emerging technologies, production considerations, and opportunities for broader adoption. Together, the presentations will explore how technical performance, cost, environmental benefits, and material availability can guide the transition toward more sustainable concrete.
