Kathleen Hetrick is an Associate Principal and Sustainability Integration Leader at Buro Happold in Los Angeles, where she helps public agencies, institutions, and project teams advance circular economy and low-carbon development strategies. A Bloomberg Fellow at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Kathleen combines expertise in architectural engineering, public health, and regenerative design to deliver practical solutions that reduce embodied carbon and transform material supply chains.

Kathleen leads sustainability and circularity initiatives across a diverse portfolio of public and institutional projects, including LEED Platinum, ILFI Zero Carbon, and Living Building Challenge developments. Her recent work includes piloting circular design and deconstruction strategies for New York City's SPARC Kips Bay redevelopment, advancing material salvage and reuse opportunities for Los Angeles General Hospital, and developing regional circular economy frameworks in Southern California.

A recognized leader in embodied carbon reduction and circular construction, Kathleen collaborates with cities, universities, and industry partners to translate ambitious climate goals into actionable procurement, design, and implementation strategies. She currently serves as the chair for the USGBC-CA statewide Circularity Committee and is passionate about leveraging public projects to accelerate market transformation toward a more regenerative and equitable built environment.
