On behalf of the USGBC California team and our Board of Directors, thank you for joining us at the 2026 Carbon Forward Summit! This year, we set out to answer a direct question: Can Greater Los Angeles use the momentum of the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games to scale demand for lower-carbon materials? On September 17, the La Kretz Innovation Campus brought together public agencies, manufacturers, designers, contractors, developers, investors, and innovators for 14 sessions, 21 company pitches, an expo floor, and a back lot full of lower-emission equipment. The day also marked the release of the Lower Carbon Concrete in Greater Los Angeles Report, our new market assessment developed from the regional Request for Information issued in May, with support from the County of Los Angeles, the City of Long Beach, and the City of Los Angeles. One finding is especially worth repeating: nearly 80% of the solutions submitted are available at or near cost parity today, including products from 10 ready-mix plants and 8 CMU facilities. These aren’t future technologies. They’re available now. Whether you joined us as a Speaker, Sponsor, Exhibitor, Volunteer, or Attendee, thank you for making Carbon Forward possible, and for continuing the conversations that move this work beyond individual projects and toward broader adoption. Now, let’s keep the momentum going! Join us at the California Green Building Conference in Los Angeles on May 12-13 2027! |
Where California comes together to shape the future of low-carbon construction.
California is entering one of the most significant periods of building and infrastructure investment in its history. As communities work to meet ambitious climate goals while delivering the housing, schools, transportation, data centers, and public infrastructure the state needs, reducing embodied carbon has become one of the built environment's greatest opportunities and greatest challenges.
Carbon Forward is California's annual event for advancing lower-carbon materials and sustainable construction, convening architects, engineers, developers, manufacturers, policymakers, and building owners to move innovation into standard practice.
As California prepares to host the 2028 Olympic & Paralympic Games, it gives the region a rare chance to show how major investment in buildings and infrastructure can drive lasting change.
Expect sessions on lower-carbon concrete, steel, mass timber, and other materials, procurement strategies, circular construction, and policy developments, alongside real-world case studies. This event will also mark the release of a first-of-its-kind regional assessment of lower-carbon concrete suppliers and technologies.
If you design, build, manufacture, regulate, or invest in California's built environment, this is where the industry is heading and where you'll want to be.
